Mongolian pheasants are more common in the eastern United States. They are a popular bird to hunt because of their size. These birds are sought out by hunt clubs for field hunting purposes. Males reach an average weight of 3.5-4 lbs. There is plenty of meat for table consumption.

These would be characterized as average sized, ranging from 2.7-3 lbs. for cocks and 1.7-2.2 lbs. for hens. Their brilliant coloration and excellent flying ability makes this our standard for hunting and propagation. This pheasant is very popular for hunting preserves and performs well in all areas of the country.
